How can we cultivate a heart that opens to the 10,000 joys and 10,000 sorrows of this world? The holiday season offers no shortage of either. Coworkers, friends, family — the people we love and the ones we struggle with, often the same person at the same table.
In this course, we’ll cultivate a boundless heart through Insight Dialogue.
Week by week, heart to heart, we’ll contemplate the four sublime abidings, or Brahma Viharas — Metta (Lovingkindness), Karuna (Compassion), Mudita (Appreciative Joy) and Upekkha (Equanimity). We’ll experience the immediacy of these four immeasurable heart qualities with meditation partners, giving rise to relational insights we won’t find in our individual practice.
Together, we’ll deepen in the meditative qualities and dhamma wisdom that frees the heart from suffering in relationship.
Prerequisite: This course assumes familiarity with the six guidelines of Insight Dialogue — we’ll be practicing with them, not learning them. At least one introductory Insight Dialogue course or retreat, with any teacher, is required, along with a regular silent meditation practice.
